The methodology behind every patient we see.

The Metabolic Blueprint Method is how we approach functional medicine — built on measurement, pattern recognition, sequenced restoration, and continuous adjustment. It’s why we get different results.

How patients actually move through this clinic

Five steps. Stop wherever it fits.

You don’t have to commit to the whole journey. Most people start at step 1 or 2 and decide whether the next step is worth it based on what they learn. Honest measurement first — then we decide together what’s actually needed.

How we run this

Measure before you spend.

Every step yields data you keep. If step 2 reveals everything was fine, step 3 isn’t needed. We don’t push past what the data justifies.

Root drivers, not symptoms.

We treat the cascade upstream — insulin, inflammation, hormones, sleep. The symptoms fall into line when the roots are addressed.

You own the report.

Every assessment includes written documentation. Take it to your PCP, your endocrinologist, your future self. The work doesn’t stay locked in our system.

What is the Metabolic Blueprint Method?

The Metabolic Blueprint Method is Twin Cities Metabolism’s clinical approach to functional medicine, applied to every patient. It is built on four operational principles: clinical measurement before treatment (resting metabolic rate, body composition, comprehensive labs across thyroid, gut, hormones, and metabolism), upstream driver identification rather than symptom suppression, sequenced restoration in phases (one driver at a time, in clinically prioritized order, rather than parallel protocols), and continuous adjustment as each patient’s body responds. The Method is the methodology underlying every TCM service from the $45 InBody Scan through the 6-month Reset program — distinguishing TCM from clinics that apply templated protocols regardless of upstream cause.

Most metabolic problems aren’t mysteries. They’re unmeasured.

Symptoms are usually the last thing to show up — the part you feel. The shifts that caused them have been measurable for months or years before that. Most clinical approaches start with the symptom. We start with the measurement. Most approaches treat the loudest complaint. We treat the upstream driver. That’s the difference between symptom relief and restoration.

Four principles. One method.

These four ideas are how we approach every case — and why our patients get answers other clinicians don’t have.

1

Measurement first.

We don’t start with a guess. Every Blueprint begins with InBody body composition, resting metabolic rate, and the specific lab panels your case calls for. The numbers come before the protocol — not the other way around. This is the single biggest difference between functional medicine done well and functional medicine done by hunch.

2

Pattern recognition, not symptom chasing.

Your gut, your hormones, your sleep, your blood sugar, and your stress system are all talking to each other constantly. A thyroid problem is rarely just a thyroid problem. We look at how the systems are interacting — and we treat the root, not the loudest complaint. The lab analyst methodology we use internally maps the cascade for every patient.

3

Sequenced restoration.

Protocols matter, but the order matters more. Trying to fix the gut while the adrenals are still depleted, or addressing hormones before blood sugar is stable, is why most patients plateau after six weeks. We sequence: foundation first, then upstream drivers, then optimization. Phases, not pile-ons.

4

Continuous adjustment.

Your body responds. The protocol that worked at week one isn’t necessarily the right one at week twelve. Every 2-4 weeks, we check what’s actually happening — symptoms, labs, body composition, sleep — and we adjust. The plan is the framework. The adjustments are the work.

What this method addresses that others don’t.

Most patients who arrive at TCM have tried other things first. Conventional medicine. A few different functional medicine practitioners. Diet programs. Naturopaths. The reasons each of those didn’t fully work usually trace to the same gaps:

  • ·   Insufficient measurement. “Let’s try this and see” instead of “let’s measure first.”
  • ·   Single-system focus. Treating the thyroid, the gut, or the hormones in isolation — when they’re actually entangled.
  • ·   Generic protocols. Templates that aren’t tuned to a specific person’s labs.
  • ·   No adjustment. A static plan handed over and left to run for six months.

The Metabolic Blueprint Method was built specifically to close those gaps. Measurement first. The full system map. A protocol designed for your case. Continuous adjustment as data evolves.

This is what the method produces.

Every patient leaves with a written Metabolic Blueprint — the document that holds the method’s logic.

Your Blueprint is roughly 4-5 pages. It’s not a printout. It’s a designed document that includes a summary of what’s working, your priority findings ranked by importance, a visual map of how your systems are connected, a phase-by-phase timeline of what to expect, and your treatment options laid out clearly. The kind of document you’d actually want to read — and share with your other clinicians.

The Blueprint is produced from the same internal lab-analyst system we use for clinical case review. Every report uses the same architecture, the same pattern-recognition logic, and the same standard of clarity.

Dr. Jared Larsen built it. He practices it every day.

The Metabolic Blueprint Method is the framework Dr Jared developed across years of functional medicine practice — refined through thousands of patient cases, encoded into the clinic’s internal lab-analyst system, and continuously updated as the clinical evidence base evolves.

This isn’t a method we license out, franchise, or sell as a course. It’s how we practice. Every patient at Twin Cities Metabolism is seen through this framework.
