The path here
Two parallel tracks — metabolism and clinical practice.
Dr. Jared Larsen has been practicing functional and metabolic medicine since 2007. His clinical work began with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Northwestern Health Sciences University, completed in 2006 with a focus on functional and metabolic conditions rather than the traditional musculoskeletal-only focus.
He recognized early that nutrition and metabolic physiology were the deeper drivers behind most of his patients’ chronic dysfunction, so he followed the clinical degree with a Master of Science in Human Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport in 2007. That dual training — functional clinical practice plus deep nutritional science — is what defines the way Twin Cities Metabolism operates today.
He is a Licensed Nutritionist in Minnesota and a Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS), one of the more rigorous credentials in clinical nutrition. The CNS specifically requires a graduate degree, supervised clinical practice hours, and a board exam — not a weekend certification.
Twin Cities Metabolism, the clinic he founded, runs every Metabolic Blueprint, every Comprehensive Assessment, and every clinical decision through him directly. No mid-levels, no associates, no farmed-out lab interpretations.

Clinical philosophy
Why I work outside of insurance.
Most of the patients I see have already done the conventional route. Multiple primary-care visits. Specialist referrals. Lab work that came back “normal.” The system told them nothing was wrong, but their bodies kept telling them otherwise.
The truth is that the insurance-driven 12-minute appointment isn’t built for the work these cases actually require. A real functional workup means looking at the right markers (often not the ones a standard panel orders), in the right context (timed cortisol, urinary metabolites, breath gases), and sitting with the data long enough to reason through the cascade.
I run this practice outside of insurance specifically so I can take the time the cases require — usually 60-90 minutes for a Blueprint review, plus continuous protocol adjustment over six months for program patients. Insurance reimbursement at typical rates would force me to cut that time by a factor of five. The result would be worse care.
If we’re a fit, we’re a fit. If we’re not, I’ll tell you on the consultation. The free 30-minute call exists for exactly that reason.
